LARA (Live Anywhere Record Access) is a system originally developed at Creighton University in the Department of Pathology that connects wireless enabled handheld devices to the hospital's information systems. LARA gives Creighton doctors easy access to their patients' information anywhere in the hospital without delays.

LARA is free for any physician at Creighton University Medical Center to use. All it requires is a supported handheld device. Once the device has been set up (see column at right), LARA can be used to lookup patient vital signs, laboratory results, radiology reports, medications (given and ordered), ins and outs, and more! LARA is always up to date, always available and fast.

How to Start Using LARA

Step 1: Get a compatible device.
Although any doctor can use LARA for free at Creighton, it requires an 802.11b (Wi-Fi) enabled handheld device. Your department may have devices available, or you can have your own device setup to use with LARA. Click here to see a list of supported devices.

Step 2. Contact Ciscare
Creighton has contracted with Ciscare to provide the service of setting up new devices. Once you have a device, contact Ciscare either by email to creightonsupport@ciscare.com or at 888-400-5272 x 702. A representative of Ciscare will respond promptly and arrange to meet you and setup your device for use with LARA. After your device has been setup by Ciscare, you may not be able to use LARA immediately since the device must also be activated on the network by a hospital representative.

Step 3: Start using LARA!
After your compatible device has been activated on the network, it can be used to access LARA. This can take up to 5 business days after you meet with the Ciscare representative, but in most cases will be done much more quickly.

LARA is now maintained and supported by Ciscare, an Omaha based company that specializes in physician oriented solutions for healthcare IT.
